Cough

Sick baby = sleepless night

Only when you have a child you will realize the importance of being fit and healthy.

DD Trev came back from reservist with that nagging cough, he recovered, MM Flo caught it, I recovered and then BB [V] has it... I told DD T to make sure that he doesn't bring back any of these viruses cause of its dire consequences.

As babies do not have the ability to cough out their phlegm the medicine actually help to excrete it through their poo. Last night, I had to prop my princess up in our pillow just to make sure that she wouldn't choke on her phlegm. (Just to be sure) There were a few bursts of screaming as I think she was very uncomfortable from the effects of the medicine. Sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice by giving her the medicine... to see her like that breaks our hearts ... for she was all smiley before the medicine..

This actually got me thinking about why they extended the maternity leave to 4 months, I guess I'm lucky not to be working. Cause it takes alot from the mummy when the baby gets sick and the fever after their jabs. After the difficult night, which I barely slept, DD T was ready to drop his work just in case she gets difficult in the day and to relieve me of my duties.

hmmm talk about being sick.. this flu thingy is getting serious.. You get more afraid as this concerns a little one.. Grandpa John got serious with his preparation to fight against the flu. The last time SARs came, he went shopping and got us ALL thermometers and masks. Told him then that SIA provides and that I have one in my working handbag he insisted that I put one more somewhere for easy retrieval.

Just today, DD T came back with another new thermometer and he said I'm to wear a mask whenever I go out.. *doinkssss* There grandpa John goes again.. apparently he went out shopping for medical stuffs today and the office has a big packet of masks waiting...

Happy Anniversary

its our 3rd/4th year anniversary... depending how you see it

280406- ROM
280407- Church and Customary wedding
280408- Touched down into Sin from our long New york/Toronto trip, BB[V] was made about this time last year
280409- BB [V] is 3 months old

How fast time files..

Nothing much happened today, we didn't even remember that it was our anniversary till later part of the day. We didn't get a chance to celebrate as our little gal is a little under the weather. She is couging, sneezing with mucous-sy breathing and was cranky too, demanding alot of sleep today. The usual PD was closed and the grandparents insisted that we should get her checked and so we made trip down to KKH as DD T has jam packed meeting tomorrow. We got a little kaisu...

But KKH was like so scary, I took a few steps in just to press my ticket stub and came out. Called DD T and told him that I am not comfortable. Haiz, the hospital was on high alert with this swine flu thingy going on. There were so many sick children, all having fever, they all had that stick on cooler plaster thingy, and I even saw one parent carry a basin of water trying to sponge her child down. Sad... By the time DD T came up after parking the car, an ambulance came with a sick boy on a wheelchair... so you can imagine the scene.. and there we were with a coughing, smiling baby... not serious compared to what was going on..

So we approach the screening nurse (the cubicle were they scan for fever, blood pressure etc...) for advice, she did a quick check and BB [V] didnt have any fever, oxygen level were fine, clear lungs. She advised us to go a PD instead, we thought so too. Virus level were too high in KKH for me.

But then I think we were too zealous.. aren't all parents? So that was how we spent our anniversary (for when you have a baby, she is the most important thing in out lives)

Cries

We swear by this Baby Language by Priscilla Dunstan. It was extremely helpful to us in the 1st 2 months or so. (copy n paste the link)

http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/entertainment/watch/v910865YY3TMwrp#

Hmmmppf.. I admit its difficult to differentiate the sounds especially when she is screaming. But at least I know the NEH: hungry... it never fails ...

We printed the list of sounds and pasted it on our fridge so that we were able to identify and refer to.

Someone worth mentioning...

Mummy Flo decided to write this entry to talk about your chinese godma

Dear BB [V],

She is someone totally not related to us in any way but has given you so much angbao we have decided that she deserves the title of your chinese godma. Grand aunt Kim is actually the NG's neighbour, house No 5 to be exact.

You just received another angbao from her today, just because she carried you and she won 4D... Haha..

Daddy Trev used to be the one that benefited the most before you were born. Well, everyone in the house will get some but he gets the most! Even BamBam gets $10 to buy titbits.. and she always wins in her 4Ds hehehe... so you can imagine the amount we have been getting from her.

Even mummy Flo gets a cut from her generousity, thanks to you. There was the bird's nest before you were born , the bird's nest after you were born, the angbao after I delivered you (just for me, specifically mine!)

But ever since you were born , it is always you, you, you... there were always reason for her to give you money; there was the day you were born, on your 1st month, the day when we brought you over to visit her and today... and we think she truly enjoys it. But whenever she gives the angbao she always tell us to buy things for you and so we listen. She sponsored your Peg Perego P3 stroller(Mummy's favourite!) and alot of your toys at home...

So we say aren't you lucky!!For there are will be more coming....

Love Mummy n Daddy

Mummy-fied

u koe u r a mummy when...

U read Simply Her instead of Cleo

Dun koe if u consider me coming of age when I realized that "50 most eligble bachelors" do NOT appeal to me anymore? Honestly what so interesting about men who are single anyway?

I can't wear my heels

I wore my favourite pair of Beverly Feldman to go shopping but alas my legs hurt!! Think after 9 months of nice comfy birkens, my feet can't take my heels anymore.. I miss my heels u koe.. But my feet can't take my extra fats.. I was wobbling, I mean the legs not the fats.

I wanna cut my hair short

My tresses looked good in a club with my ciggies n a drink , it somehow dont complement my bb... I look so messy, feel hot, bb is starting to pull my hair and so I tie my hair up.. I dun feel very glamour puss anymore.. Thinking of doing a Katie Holmes... hmm must do research

I take a longer time dressing my bb than myself

I have taken my obsession of color co-ordination when dressing my girl... Booties must match mittens must match rompers must match cap must match blanket must match spare clothes.. Blah that's why they call it a obsession...just pity DD T, coz when I start shopping, I don't stop ... He knows

The 1st thing I do when I go into a mall or should I say when selecting the mall to go

is to check where the nursing room is or is there a existing one.. u never know when this small one does her hiroshima...

I can't stand still

The legs naturally start moving, n the body sways with or without the BB.. its funny!

Your ears perks up when ...

you hear children songs, hehe... who cares about the American Top 40 anyway..

You observe what other mummies do

how to manoveur the stroller up and down the escalator, you peek at what's in their diaper bag, what they do in the baby room...*tsk tsk* busybody

n there is always reason for a new bag... I mean a bb bag

There u go, I'm officially mummy-fied........

ADD ON... n wassup with the teens hair nowadays? its the 1 eye bandit look.. tsk tsk.. can they actually see?!!? i mean through that thick mane of hair...u c im actually bothered by the other ppl's hairstyle.. its the mummy thing *signz*

Biodata

thought i better write this down before i forget...

English Name: Victoria Eden Ng
Chinese Name:

okie her chinese name is calculated.. both of us are not scholars to create a nice sounding name.. and 4 grandparents can't read chinese.. *duh* so we resorted to having the professional to do it.. we thought of skipping the chinese name but honestly we really don't want her to suffer in school, u know those deprived chinese teachers whipping up their own conconctions of chinese words and then the poor gal would have to suffer for the many godamn years.. screw that

so we got dd trev's family geomancer to do the job.. when dd Trev came back, I asked dd trev how to pronounce , as usual he let go his cannot make it chinese pronouncation (till today he cant pronounce his own chinese name).. I was like why the name so old skool!! why no stylo mylo chinese name, but as if i know what is stylo mylo lar.. Grand uncle ah meng took bloody 1/2 hour to count the strokes and dont know what else..and the best part is after the drama, Grand uncle came up with only ONE name... I was like "wtf"..

Okie, fine.. there we are stuck with this name .. then came the difficult part , dialect and hanyu pingyi... we were given just the chinese characters and was asked to figure out the dialect part.. honestly, we suck in this.. so screw it.. my daughter doesn't need a dialect or hanyu pingyi name.. we ain't going to use the name.. I believe I'm going to be the only one remembering this name anyway..just few days later, DD T came to me and ask me what is her chinese name, cause he forgot how to pronounce.. I told him don't bother and ask me when she is in primary 1...

meaning:

si : think, reflect, desire
hui: wisdom

both letters have a "xin" .. this is to ensure that she puts her heart and soul into whatever she does

Victoria: this name was chosen way before she was made.. somewhere in 2004, way before we were married, both of us were holidaying in England and came across this name. I casually told DD T that I have always like this name , surprising he too liked the name.. so we did make a unwritten pact about using this name. When we were told that we were expecting a girl, we looked at each other and knew exactly who she was to be. So in fact she was already in our minds and hearts even before she was born, for we never had a male name and it was an irony that our 1st born is a girl.

Being catholics we needed a bibilcal name but wasn't sure if Victoria was one. I took time to check on the internet but I couldn't find it on the list. So came the search for a second name.

Eden: We had a list of name that we tried to pair with her first name, but no matter how there wasn't one that was smooth sounding or that we could agree on. Then came a day as I came across this name of Eden. I did a search and realized that it means "Beautiful, lovely, enchanting, epitomizing feminine characteristics". Wow, loved it.. it encapasulates what I wanted for my girl.

so there you have it..

Victorious, Beautiful, Thoughful, Wisdom and she does everything with a heart
