OMG!!

I finally got the answer .... after downing my bottle of beer!

totally was a rough day... The minute I lay her down on the bed, I went to my wine fridge and opened a bottle of hoegaarden... the day really sucked me up big time!!!

Dd T came home about that time and I went on ranting about my so difficult day.. about her crying about almost everything today! It was so bad I took her to the showers to stop her from crying, I ended up being in the showers sitting on the floor with her, coz my heart was racing and needed to cool myself down!! Yes trust me it was that bad.

As I was ranting at dinner about her horrible behaviour, told DD T that she spoke " don't want" to me just now.. we both looked at each other and finally realized why she was behaving this way!! My daughter wants to talk and she can't!!!!!! Dd T said yday Grandpa Ng told her "see you on friday" and she answered back FRIDAY. They heard and asked her to repeat but like always its only once.

So we were sharing about the words we both have heard her say... I got butterfly, ballon, yes, no, don't want, caterpillar (damn broken), milk, food, shower, can, dog, cat and many words that I took no interest in. (now I feel like a bad mother) I started teaching her to talk recently cause of her biting incident and realized that she can recite the alphabet and say the numbers .. something I have never taught her coz I didn't think she was ready. I stopped reading to her (btw only have 2 books) for a while coz she seemed more interested in other things, don't have any books on alphabets and numbers.. boo hoo... But when I stared singing the alphabets song, I heard A,C, E, G, H, P, Q very clearly and nos 2, 8 ,10 .. so I told everyone sesame street rocks coz no one in the family teaches her this.

It never occurred to me that she can talk as we never hear her repeat her words, except predominately daddy, mama, nana, pops, bambam, porpor, gong gong, tita, bao bao (carry), ta (thank you), bye... she will only repeat the words after us and not to the person unless requested. The rest of the words are one off or repeatedly said but we took it as baby talk. I read that parents with attachment parenting have this issues of children speaking late coz we read their body language too well, make decisions for them, and talking for them. So I have been speaking to her in open ended questions, giving her the opportunity to answer me by nodding or shaking her head.

But like OMG ... its like a burden off my shoulder now we realized why she is at phase 2... coz she wants to talk... this always happens whens she tries to achieve something!!!! remember her waking up to practice crawling and not sleeping cause she wanted to walk?? last week has been an hour nap everyday and she is on the go... all the symptoms are the same.... this is what parenthood is all about, sitting over dinner brainstorming solutions about their child. If DD T didn't keep questioning about everything and prompting me about the last few times this happens, we will never have gotten the answers.. coz I was so cooped up getting upset!!!!

and of course blogging rocks cause it had all the timelines of her nonsenses!

warrao .. damn happy okie!! really really DAMN HAPPY!!

Yeah, I thought so! Remember I said she had surpassed her current learning levels - she's obviously eager to get to the next level and is frustrated at being 'stuck' at this level.

Can't believe you have only TWO books... terrible! :) Cannot always buy toys lah!

BTW, Montessori believes that children always want to learn and get fussy when they aren't learning.

haha.. i have books but those are meant for flipping.. didn't help she enjoyed tearing them up.. so I stopped for a while.

the only books i read to her are the eric carle ones and 2 were enough then... been going to the book shops lots but can't find books that I like to read to her as the books in Singapore shores are a tat boring.. the hardbooks are too limited and the ones I wanna buy may end up being torn by her. I have no heart to waste $30 that ends up dog eared or tore. Me being a reader...
