Friends Of V ...

How it started...

It started on monday 26th Jul... I bought a gift from this mummy friend who has just started her online business doing personalized handmade pretty stuffs. I was browsing her webbie when it dawn on me that I should get Teacher Lin a farewell gift! So I placed my order, came to my blog and wanted to write about my gift for her. As I was writing, I did mention that if anyone of you are keen, should mention to my mummy friend that you got her link through my blog and I'm sure she will give you a discount. Then it dawned on me la!!! I should link up my mummies friends to all of you and give you discounts!!!

Obviously I deleted that post and went on to sms/msn/fb my friends to see if they are keen on giving discounts. Then it became FOV (Friends of V )...  so after 3 days, I managed to find a fair bit of mumpreneurs. I got some contacts and here we go....

today is 18 months

She is 18 months today... which is a milestone to us that is...

We went Raku for lunch and had Jon and Caleb for company. Which was great as V hasn't seen her friends for a while..
We had the Ginara with sweet sauce set lunch meal @ $25 and each kiddo had a chawa mushi too. Total we spent about $38 which I think is a good deal as we moved to the private function room to chat and got space for the kiddos to play with. Or should I say Jon had the most fun for her was out of his seat immediately after lunch and was charming everyone in the restaurant.

here in the private room, they have this great looking fish tank which got the kiddos intrigued
V n C was watching the "show"
The "show"
Up to mischief here
Jon was away most of the time until it was time for black sesame ice cream!
Went over to Lana to get V a cake for ermm 18 months la. DD T says we should get one just to "celebrate" with her. Don't ask me why, but I guess we are just plain proud she has reached here.... Got her a simple banana cake $21... Cakes and sweet stuff are a big deal for V as she doesn't get a chance to eat all these, mainly because she doesn't sleep after eating sugary stuffs. She has gone 12 hours straight after eating a muffin... O.o... so its carinal sin to ever feed her any sugary, everyone knows it. The max I allow are dried fruits as the are natural sugars... no cake, no ice cream, no lollies, no lollipops, no chocolate etc... Everyone who knows this is like "sure or not?" "u guys can resist not giving?"

Well, if you want to give you look after her, I always say.... I read this article before and it says that in this generation, parents always "bribe" their kiddos with something sweet, like if you behave youself,  mummy will give u ice cream... well done, you deserve an ice cream and etc... So naturally because of positive reinforcement, the child will think that sweet stuffs are good for their health. I am hoping that I can resist this "sweet syndrome" for as long as I can. Yes, V hasn't eaten chocolate before... what she don't know won't hurt here .. yet... Lol

Left Greenwood about late 3pm and went to DD T office and "cut cake". V woke up on the wrong side of the bed and drama la... so be it, don't wan to cut cake, blow candle... zzzz
So I cut la, fed her some.. then she realized it was special and wanted to blow the candle
insisted on putting the candle...
went on and on... even use her fingers to touch the flame.. "children!"
then she had 1/2 a slice and not fancy it anymore..
took a a nice family photo... love her smile....
DD T says she deserve something even more happening.... We got her her 1st Happy Meal!!! lol
Ya I think we are damn lame...
my daughter just before her sleep... so contented with her day...  watching Noose....

Raku and Lana are located at Greenwood Ave, Bukit Timah

says me - points to her "KNEE"

says take - TAKE

says my - points to her self "MY"

says ball - throws her hands up in the air "BALL"

gives her her ball and she says "TA"

V's favourite Teacher - Lin Mustapha

I'm sure everyone knows who V's fav teacher is.. Tat is Lin Mustapha from JG. Well, this term is her last one, last day on 3rd september.. boo hooo!!

We were supposed to go up to playclub soon (I did make a request) as V will definitely perform better in there with the older children. But after much consideration, we decided that in this lifetime (V's) she should be loved and cuddled more by the people she love and those who love her.  We started out JG in  Dec last year and this will be our 3rd term with 2 holiday programs. V has grown to love Lin, Shoba and Ariel so much so I do not need to be around. In class, I just sit there and watch, for V will be on Lin's lap for most of the time. She is like the class monitor and follow Lin when she makes her rounds with the stuffies or is always in front of the class with her for whatever reason.

I as a mother have learnt so much from her experience and how I can better in my parenting. We have chats so often and she gives me advice and sanity when its goes awry at home with V.

Love is a greatest gift a parent can give to a child and to get teachers who show so much affection and love to my child is a gift from God. It doesn't matter that V has been doing the same things for 3 terms and that her peers are smaller in terms of months and her kakis have promoted to playclub. To her as long there is Lin, she is the happiest child in school.

I hope in this life time, we can come across a teacher like Lin whose passion for children has rubbed off to others around her. But I believe for her after 15 years, its time to move on.....

search

wa wa this search thing damn gd...

I get lost in my own blog u know... the entries are piling up and so difficult to search for something I wana look for...

So I spruce my blog a little and will do more as days goes by.

pest

im at my in laws.. DD T was on a trip

GODDAMN!!!! F*3king roaches are out again!! The rain has been forcing them out of their nest and they are enjoying clubbing here in this house. Think there are freaking generations of them, great great great grand parents and their family. *pukes*

Last month, when the rain came, we set traps and caught like 30 over of them.. It doesn't help that my in laws stay in a cluster house aka house/condo type la. Got drain nearby somemore... it sux!!!

You see I HATE ROACHES! Think most of you will know since I have declared it very clearly in FB I do not like them. I run away if i see one, scream if one flies...

Had my shower and saw a bloody big one walking in the toilet la... on the 3rd floor!!!! You know they are so "yaya" they went upstairs!!!! As I am ranting in this post while sitting on the dining table , I just spoke VERY loudly to my FIL about this situation and that I CANNOT STAND IT.

So FIL n DD T says this to appease me, "tomorrow will settle this"..

Okie since I'm on the pest post, think singaporeans really very CMI... Yday I saw a spider way up high around the staircase, so came down told my FIl to kill it then forget that FIL scared of spider. Fail.... in the end you know who killed ? Aunty Nita la ... she kills everything in this house, cockroaches, lizards, ants, spiders... FIL came home and saw a snail who crawled up on the front door and told aunty nita to clear it... while my MIL was going on and on about the snail.. zzzzz

Okay I rest my case... singaporeans really not kampong la... If you think DD T should be the man one.. wrong, he runs away when he sees lizards.. ME? I run away from EVERYTHING. it includes those small beetles that flies aimlessly in my parents house, those that flies straight into and slams themselves on the walls. "Ti Tha Ti Tat"

DD T always tell me how to buy a house? When I can't handle pests... coz staying on ground attracts many insects. True la...

So I think if the pest control comes... it will be mayhem.

changing to something else

k im bored of this layout...

Like officially damn sianz of it.. think 2 years is a long time to be facing the same O same O... I have been saying I wanna dotcom this thingy then sat on it for the longest time. Actually decided to accept it but NOW I honestly think its time for a change. the layout is yawnzzzzzzz......

1st of all, I wanna thank all you readers who likey my blog.. BTW I just checked nuffnang and we have a average of 500 hits a week.. not too bad I think for a bb's blog. Saw in Nuffnang that this blog n ophe's blog has a lot of common referrals hahaha.

Me been doing a lot of reading around people's blog and seeing how to improve mine, since I'm still a new at this. Saw some's have video on how they do things using skills, sell their loots, links to facebook etc. Im so sick of facebooking la, there is so much I can do there... which explains why I'm hardly inside now. I go kpo a little on my iphone, you see I don't even switch on my lappie.

So planning planning abit... think its not going to only a Victoria's blog solely .. may want to add a huge chunk of my life into it.. mainly more shits from me lol. Think I have alot as a person to share, I am full of shit remember?

Hatch

I saw a bunch of lil kiddos at the backyard of JG last thursday...being a kpo, I went up to one of the adults and asked her why are there so many children in uniform at Evans Lodge.. she then told me they are from St James Church Kindergarden and are going to "Hatch; to learn about Eggs" So cute right? an excursion to a restaurant! DD T's cousin owns La fondue In Demspey and always had good words for this school as they do go to her restaurant to have chocolate fondue excursion.

So after class, I decided that we should have lunch at Hatch too! I have never see a kindergarden excursion and it will be nice to watch how to teachers and the students behave. (basically just a busybody) So we waited a while for a nice booth seat and saw the layout of some eggs on the long table, took the opportunity to show V too.

There were 2 sets of children, one inside and one outside. The children were having lunch (scrambled pizza toast and OJ), everything was very much in order and even heard one teacher thanking a student "Thank you for being so patient with me". Seem like a very adult way of educating a child which I like. There were I believe 2 sets of children (15) with 4 teachers - 3 english speaking and 1 chinese one. The chinese teacher was busy mothering the children to finish their lunch and reminded them of their long day ahead which included enrichment class.

Then came lunch, I order a plain omelette and plain french toast for V.

and totally couldn't resist the Black Truffle Omelette with buttered Ciabatta

While we were happily having out lunch, the chef cladded in his black uniform came out to do his EGGS Presentation. He had a quiz prepared for the kids and gave out chocolates as a prize. So there was the explanations of the fresh/not so fresh, scrambled, sunny side up, hard boiled and even had a pot of boiling water to make poached eggs! I must say I was very intrigued as it was very educational for me and he had audience from the customers in the restaurant when he prepared the poached eggs (who doesn't want to see a chef making poached eggs right? anyway its boiling water and 3 mins before u scope out k..lol)

The 2 teachers were busy taking photos (think for the parents or the website?) and further reinforce the points to the children . At one point, one teacher quiz the kids again after the session "what type of eggs....... children replied; hard boiled, scrambled, and got stuck when it came to one type of egg... teacher said "this is a raw egg" then she continued... but one child actually cleverly answered "issit this a fresh egg? What a intelligent child!

So the session ended, the kiddos were all fed, brought to the toilet. I saw a teacher, stood by the entrance of Evans Lodge and started to shaking a egg shaker (like in Kmusik those tiny egg shaped ones), alamak, I tell you the children lined up in twos and started holding hands la! Impressed I tell u!! No shouting, no amok running.... all in order... about 3 mins later the bus came and they walked in twos, holding hands (no gender bias) to the bus. It was very interesting to note where the educational system is going towards, its very fashion forward I feel to be holding excursions in hip restaurants. Not every thing is safety park ...zzzzz

If you are wondering what V is doing all these time... You can watch the video and know why I had so much time watching the children.

Pepperoni Pizzeria

We were at Raku (greenwood) 2 days before and saw that the restaurant next door was packed (it was already 12am)

So on Sunday, made a trip down there to have a nice lunch... We were so blady surprised that they served "Manhole Pizza" - a new yorker classic... This type of pizza was founded in New York and its called manhole because its the size of a manhole! wahhah .. DD T and I had our 1st in NYC 2 years back.... pls do go there if u are in NYC, its the bestest of the bestest!!!! Its GIRMALDI"s in Brooklyn.

So can you imagine our joy when we realized that their "family" size pizza was so similar to the NYC one.. (really, you don't need to fly anywhere to get anything here in Singapore)

We "tapao" the rest -1/4 of the pizza for supper ; world cup supper. (so damn worth for a $45 pizza)

We order a kids meal for V; carbonara penne, but she was way more interested in poking the pizza and pulling out the cheese. She ended up eating the pizza for it was so super thin crust. Need to tell you gals, the creme brulee RAWKS!!!!!! V had the crystalline orange for dessert.... lol

Halia Restaurant

I guess a lot of you wonder how I spend my days with V ...

I have been venturing into nice great restaurants to satisfy my cravings for food; ever since I stopped Breastfeeding, I have wanting to satisfy alot of my gourmet cravings...Not that I'm pregnant la, just that when I was BF, ate a lot of fish. fish. fish. So
now I want to eat back the foods that I missed.

Its summer now in Europe means Freaking hellva lots of great foods!!!!! sigh.. Now that I am stuck in Singapore, I make do with whatever is available. So last week after JG, I drove about quite aimless around and decided to go turn back to Botanical Gardens. Walked around with V, reminded me so much of my regular walks in London's Hyde Park, those days of me, a book, a bottle of water and a Ipod. Chilling out on the sun decks chairs and just watching the world go by... I love summers, you know... I will definitely take a afternoon off and take a stroll in the park.. may it be New York, Amsterdam... esp if the park is near the hotel.

But the weather drove me kinda of mad that day, despite it was overcast, the humility level was maddening (not very Hyde Park in the end) So decided to have lunch at Halia Restaurant. Great ambience, V gets a nice view to watch people and plush greenery around.

Its the season of White Asparagus!! Of course, I had to let V try this seasonal foods from Germany. I ordered her a bowl of White asparagus with smoked chicken soup

while I ordered the Tuna Tataki

White Asparagus drizzled with Truffle oil and fried eggs (though I still think poached eggs would be better)

Had a great lunch and V was very well behaved... I still stand by the notion of her behaving real well in a fine dining restaurant. No dropping of food, no crying, no banging of utensils and of course she gets service which I think she appreciates. I mean the servers are willing to change the plate FOR HER for every course that we had.

Playing with tissues while I have my Cuppa of tea .. relaxing

We spend 1.5 hours in the restaurant and I drove her over to Jacob Bellas Children's Garden for a wash up. It was water play in school and I had her towels, spare clothes. Played for about 1/2 hr and cleaned her up and she fell asleep in the car till evening.

Bambini Photography

Was sitting in the hall with DD T and was commenting how cute V looked in the photos taken by Sean Lau and its has been 1 year since that photo shoot. So DD said that we should take another family photo before the 2nd one comes along coz by then I will be all fat and totally not keen to take any photos.

Didn't have any studios in mind and didn't bother going to source out either. But just that day my girlfriend had hers taken at Bambini for her son's 2nd year birthday shoot and I quite like the results of it. So over 3-4 emails to Bambini and we booked last sunday for a shoot. They happened to have a promotion for $250 and I think 30 photos in soft copies (they chose). The photos came yesterday and wow I am IMPRESSED. I chose them coz I am a fan of natural photographer (be being a amateur photographer) and after Sean Lau, I didn't want anymore "studio lighting" environment. Though I picked indoor shoots; mainly for the obvious reasons coz I can't deal with the recent weather bonker-ness. The photos are all, if you might wanna know is done in a studio with totally no studio lightning.... just a skylight at the roof (it was a shophouse).

I totally heart the results!!!! I had Zero expectations!!! loved the way the photographer caught V's expressions. Not the smiley ones but the "duh" "Wth" that makes her who she is. They gave me in total 66 photos- 33 in colour and 33 black and white in an email attachment link which sends it in its large file format. The outfits were chosen by the photographer... amongst my mountain of clothes.

add V to your Fb account to see the whole collection.. victoriaeden09@gmail.com
