Barbie Live 2013

{Review}

I believe all girls like Barbie, some more than the others. I played them much when I was younger but was not much into the stories of it. Barbie was a doll, a branded doll... those where the days when I was told that by cutting off her hair will guarantee faster growth and I may have spent too much of my days washing those with shampoo in attempt to ensure and maintain her locks. Like many of us, the dolls got ruined and we moved on to the next one. V is not any different. She has one that has the prettiest hair and is now a mess.

We were invited to watch Barbie Live 2013 and although V has many Barbie DVD, I never really sat down to watch 1 show in detail. But I do know that besides its pretty face, it does teach good values.

I brought along my niece

A shop that I spent a little too much
I admit I was a little distracted in the beginning and was doing my stuffs. But eventually settled in to watch and I am actually very pleased with what they offered.  Amidst the loud music and dancing which was on a set of Hollywood , or rather "Barbiewood", it was about Barbie encouraging her BFF Teresa about not doubting her self of her theatrical abilities and that she must be confident.

 Barbie uses lessons learned from her Princess movies : Swan Lake Princess and the Popstar and Mariposa & The Fairy Princess to teach her best friend to be brave, believe in herself and embrace the power of true friendship. I must say the sawn lake part was a surprise to V for thats like her favourite scene of one of Barbie movies. Ya I know..Swan Lake at 4 years old, right? I mean remember V used the word masquerade ball at 3 years old? Too much Mickey mouse = very comprehensive vocab.

There was a 15 mins break between scene which I was surprised just because I expected a 1 hour show and this lasted almost 2 hours !!! If you are planning to bring to watch something, this is a good choice for the production is really well done. There was a lot of interaction with the audience which kept the children excited.

I did a "debrief" during the intermission and the ending. There were many values that were taught and I took this opportunity to explain and how better help them with character building.

This dance-inspired musical is on from 10-14 September 2013 before they move on to travel around Asia,Australia, Europe and USA. This is their world premiere and don't miss out watching them this week!

Prices are $35, $55, $75, $95, $125 (excluding booking fee) and is held at the MasterCard Theatres of Marina Bay Sands (my favourite theatre!!) Its 2 hours including a 20 minutes break, children under 1 without a seat is free :D

 Go and have fun!!

 Disclosure: FloMummy was invited by Nuffnang to watch this musical. No monetary compensation was given and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
