Hatch

I saw a bunch of lil kiddos at the backyard of JG last thursday...being a kpo, I went up to one of the adults and asked her why are there so many children in uniform at Evans Lodge.. she then told me they are from St James Church Kindergarden and are going to "Hatch; to learn about Eggs" So cute right? an excursion to a restaurant! DD T's cousin owns La fondue In Demspey and always had good words for this school as they do go to her restaurant to have chocolate fondue excursion.

So after class, I decided that we should have lunch at Hatch too! I have never see a kindergarden excursion and it will be nice to watch how to teachers and the students behave. (basically just a busybody) So we waited a while for a nice booth seat and saw the layout of some eggs on the long table, took the opportunity to show V too.

There were 2 sets of children, one inside and one outside. The children were having lunch (scrambled pizza toast and OJ), everything was very much in order and even heard one teacher thanking a student "Thank you for being so patient with me". Seem like a very adult way of educating a child which I like. There were I believe 2 sets of children (15) with 4 teachers - 3 english speaking and 1 chinese one. The chinese teacher was busy mothering the children to finish their lunch and reminded them of their long day ahead which included enrichment class.

Then came lunch, I order a plain omelette and plain french toast for V.

and totally couldn't resist the Black Truffle Omelette with buttered Ciabatta

While we were happily having out lunch, the chef cladded in his black uniform came out to do his EGGS Presentation. He had a quiz prepared for the kids and gave out chocolates as a prize. So there was the explanations of the fresh/not so fresh, scrambled, sunny side up, hard boiled and even had a pot of boiling water to make poached eggs! I must say I was very intrigued as it was very educational for me and he had audience from the customers in the restaurant when he prepared the poached eggs (who doesn't want to see a chef making poached eggs right? anyway its boiling water and 3 mins before u scope out k..lol)

The 2 teachers were busy taking photos (think for the parents or the website?) and further reinforce the points to the children . At one point, one teacher quiz the kids again after the session "what type of eggs....... children replied; hard boiled, scrambled, and got stuck when it came to one type of egg... teacher said "this is a raw egg" then she continued... but one child actually cleverly answered "issit this a fresh egg? What a intelligent child!

So the session ended, the kiddos were all fed, brought to the toilet. I saw a teacher, stood by the entrance of Evans Lodge and started to shaking a egg shaker (like in Kmusik those tiny egg shaped ones), alamak, I tell you the children lined up in twos and started holding hands la! Impressed I tell u!! No shouting, no amok running.... all in order... about 3 mins later the bus came and they walked in twos, holding hands (no gender bias) to the bus. It was very interesting to note where the educational system is going towards, its very fashion forward I feel to be holding excursions in hip restaurants. Not every thing is safety park ...zzzzz

If you are wondering what V is doing all these time... You can watch the video and know why I had so much time watching the children.
