Waiting

BB [V],

As your movements get stronger and faster, Mummy knows that the end is here..

If you must know, you have been excellent in my womb as you barely give me any discomfort or pain...

Its interesting that you don't kick, but mummy do feel your occasional punch with your fist when you stretch..

You definitely enjoy your swims and turns as daddy and I watch in amusement when my stomach moves to your groove..

I am impressed that you do have a mind of your own when you move to remind me to eat... (especially so when I'm sleeping)

or when you are the one who controls my meals, having the exact appetite as daddy...

I enjoy you telling me that you recognize daddy's voice when he comes back or when daddy is awake...

It fun to feel you having your hiccups though we really pity you since it lasts at least 15 mins, we wonder how it feels to keep having them...

I will miss you getting startled in my womb when bambam does her sudden barks, because the feeling is indescribable when my heart and my womb leaps in tandem....

Mummy is going to miss you inside me and daddy is waiting...

I can feel you getting ready for your journey into the world..

We can't wait to cradle you in our arms...

Antenatal class

We finally graduated..

Yesterday was the last lesson for our antenatal class, it was to prepare both of us for the stages of labour. We did our breathing exercises, the relaxation poses, the proper position for labour, the signs of labour and the father's role during the labour.

Both of us enjoyed the 10 lessons we had, it prepares us emotionally and mentally the expectations as parents and how to look after the little one. It gives us an idea as new parents on how we want and can look after BB[V] .

It is great that DD Trev is so involved,, it honestly feel like we were doing our degree all over again. (Lectures, slides, books, discussions...) The lessons are extremely useful for DD Trev as he totally understands why I am behaving the way I am. He nows knows when to say the right things and when to shut up.. haha (preggers and hormones... you can NEVER win!!)

BB[V] is arriving in less than 40 days and I can feel the changes in my body. I never understood why preggers waddle, they walk like penguins!!

Well, I'm starting to do so sometimes, especially after sitting down for too long. The weight is so concentrated around the tummy area, the pelvic muscles and the joints are aching, the knees are starting to feel locked, the liagaments are loosing up to prepare for labour. The torso area is so itchy, I know she is stretching to get whatver little space there is inside.

I know its soon...

But when? Is she going to be a rat or ox, capricorn or aquarius?

I wonder which day she is choosing for her birthday....

Baby Kai

Water Isssues

2 kg of fats or water??

I was shocked that the weighing machine showed that I put on 2 kg in 2 weeks.. but Dr Han said it was ALL just water. "It will be flushed away once BB [V] is out" he said that statement with a twinkle in his eyes.. Phew!!!

It was good news to me as I reckon it was easier to clear water than to clear fats, right!! I was happy like a bird!!!

Everything preggers do is a vicious cycle,
I refrained from drinking water as I wanted to control my toilet breaks...
I wanted to control my toilet breaks as I was not sleeping well...
I was not sleeping well as I was having the itch, remember??

Then I gained 2 kg... freakish... and all because of an itch..

Anyway I Yahoo-ed and read up about water retention, about 50% of preggers have it, Water retention during pregnancy is beneficial and a sign of a healthier fetus. (whoo.. BB [V] is about 2.4kg)

The trick is to drink more, to flush of the excess. So my goal to clear this 2 kg of water by the next appointment, which is on Boxing day..

By then I forsee another problem, Xmas weight!!hahahaaaaa

Odd shape

wonder if its BB [V] hand, feet, elbow or knee........

Itchiness Of the Orifices

Orifice: The entrance or outlet of any body cavity

I am itchy!!!! The itch is just so bothering me, just so disturbing, just so irritating, just so cannot sleep....

I am itching at the weirdest places...

I have 11 earholes on my right ear, the whole bloody ear is itchy and only this ear! Damn no logic... I had to take my earring and start poking the holes so as to be able to ease the itch. Interestingly, it has been at least 15 years and they are all still open!!

My belly button is also killing me, the inside part YOU KNOW!!! don't know if its the piercing or the endoscopy operation... Everyday I'm using cotton buds to scratch the insides, sometimes I try to be adventurous by using my nails, damn shiok...

When I check the internet for answers, apparently its normal..arrrrggg!!!
boobies: its just growing to receive milk,
vjj: Ph level has changed,
bumbum: varicose veins caused by Bb's weight

Its always due to HORMONAL CHANGES!!

Oh dear, oh dear how long will this itch last......

Preggers Woes

9 months of joy and woe

Preggers glow: They claim its the increase in the blood that is flowing around giving the skin its radiance. But my analogy it is actually the invasion of the fats that is tightening the pores thus giving it that baby soft smooth skin.

Body change: It gets better later especially during the last trimester, at least it looks preggie. The boobs gets bigger and the stomach rounder. If not it just looks like a bloated buffet full stomach with stubby legs.

Pee-ing: Now that her head is down, she has a tendancy to keep lying on my bladder..When that happens, it can get as bad as toilet visits every 10-15 mins. Home; there isn't much a problem as daddy trev has since swapped sides with me as the toilet is nearer on his side. Outside; it is damn bloody frustrating to keep looking for toilet, its worse when u drip only 2 teaspoon of pee. Darn!!

Heartburn: The acid reflux is disgusting. Imagine warm horrible tasting fluid flowing up the oesophagus touching the base of tongue and its tastes bad. Not forgeting the fact that pregggers become an instant burp and fart machine. Seriously!!!

Water retention: Don't know if its water or fats. Its damn sad...

Itchy Belly: Its growth spurt time when the belly becomes really itchy. Sometimes I can be applying oil on the belly like 4 times in one night. Then you cant scratch cuz it will become stretch marks.. Self controolll!!!

Just as I was finishing this entry, daddy trev came into the room and called me a whale!!

Growth Spurt

Baby [V] is now about 2 kg at 31 weeks...

Daddy Trev and mummy Flo saw BB[V] yesterday at Dr Han. In a mere 3 weeks, the little one has grown 1kg, amazing!! No ultrascan to show you guys here as she has grown too big to take a nice profile shot. Her ammointic fluid is about 26 mm and her heart beat rate is about 143-146.

My weight increased 1.4kg, so I have put on 400 grams and she 1Kg . It is nice to know that my placenta is feeding her fine.

Prenatal Education

honestly, how to educate a foetus is beyond my imagination..

There are currently a few in the market that offers prenatal eduation like babyplus, shichida. How can one justify if it works? Most mothers will give a thumbs up to any product that they buy because they paid freaking amount of dollars for it. Actually I don't mind being a sucker if I have that xx amount of money to play with .

Enough said, my prenatal ed is damn bloody lame and simple, just some classical music for her to listen and dance to. I really don't know if it works but that is the least I can do as a mother with the least amount of money.

haha.. told you I'm lazy. Can't bring myself to hear this type of music everyday (boring u know!!) so I reckon this is the best way. At least the music is clearer and louder since the belly button is nearer to her. RIGHT!? She gets her 1 hour daily dose of music at about 10-11pm everyday, I try to be consistent.

She kinda like "Bach Concerto in F Major", "Tschaisovchy: Waltz of the Flowers" my tummy bobs to these 2 tunes but that was when she was 5-6 mths, as she grew bigger her choices seem to vary. There are days when she don't seem interested and days where she bobs.

Well, I'm just happy that I don't have to listen to this CD...

Cute and Innocent

I read this on a forum, 1 mom who is a teacher posted this.. I think its hilarious

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater. She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday'

'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.' She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.

'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.) 'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Pizza hut's man.

They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.) 'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!)

'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe. They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, (placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there.' Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat.

The Journey

Morning sickness, craving, mood swings, headaches, water retention, swollen feet, swollen hands, rashes..

My journey as a pregnant mother has been very smooth to the point of bliss-ful. Why? It is because I don't have any of the above symptoms as a preggie. (Mothers reading *bash bash* mummy flo) Okie my only complain is heartburn.. constant heartburn.

Interestingly my palate has totally change, BB [V] has exactly the same palate as her daddy. My diet now consist of fried food, pizza, sandwiches, sweets and the most obvious change is that I love eating meat now. I mean alot of meat. My teochew palate of bland, simple, soupy, no meat but fish diet is a history of the past.

Somehow I think Daddy trev has taken over my craving. He always ask me what I wanna to eat but I'm always like in no mood to eat. But his mouth is constantly on-the-go. Trust me when I say he has cravings because when he doesnt fufill it, he sulks.. haha

Well I guess its true that daddies gets the effects of pregnancy from the mother. Check out the weight he has been putting on...hehe

I wonder if he will get my post natal blues too since he will be staying at home when im doing my confinement.. yup we are going intending to be hands on first time parents..

I may not eat much but my change in appetite makes me pile on the weight, how not to put on weight with such selection of food??? Up to date, I'm hovering around the 10kg mark.. not forgeting the 2 kg that I put on in new york/toronto just before this pregnancy and the weight I put on coz I stopped puffing.. okie I admit, I don't exercise, never was a fan of yoga, pilates, or swimming, I just walk Bam Bam. Good enuff alright...

3D/4D scans

06 Nov 2008

Today is our free Siemens scan in Siemens centre at about 1030. It was quite difficult to get a decent photo of the BB as she was sleeping sideways. The sonographer was probing the scanner stick into my sides trying to get the BB to move, I too tried to help by coughing and moving to lie on my side. Despite all our efforts, the little princess was still sleeping comfortably in her "Lala" land.

Daddy Trev thinks that she is stubborn like mummy, Mummy Flo thinks she just like to sleep like mummy and the sonographer Lucy thinks that BB is just plain shy. After about a good 15-20 mins of trying, BB finally decided to move a little. The whole process was not to bad, just that it would have been more exciting if BB was awake. But I did fiqure that it was early in the morning and we usually wake up about 1-2 pm. Can't really blame her for sleeping as I was rather sleepy myself. I reckon if it was a night scan, BB would have been dancing in her videos.

Posted by Picasa

The whole thing lasted for about 1/2 hour and we came back home with a DVD of BB [V]'s 5 real time video and 7 still pictures. From the look of the still pictures, her looks are there but not yet defined . Sonographer says its because she is 28 weeks and there are not enough flesh around her face. After viewing the DVD at home, we think that she has Daddy Trev's upper part of his face and Mummy Flo's lower part of her face. Well, we have about less than 3 months to find out how she looks like. Nevertheless, she will be a beauty in our eyes.

Mummy Flo's work... The last 2 flights

Milan + Moscow/Houston

Mummy Flo thinks that BB loves her because she didn't get any morning sickness AT ALL!! All my aunties, mum and sis had serious serious morning sickness that cause them to puke till about the last trimester (it runs in the family) and yes I was spared...

I continued to work and actually enjoyed it. I got to do the 2 stations that I have not been - Milan and Moscow/Houston.....

But I flew under the supervision and advice from my gynae; who was very supportive of me working instead of staying at home.

Every mother-to-be will suffer some form of anxiety from the pregnancy, its usually comes in a form of fear. Me, of course had this jittery feeling of the unexpected... The a lot of "WHAT IFsss". I remembered dropping by to my gynae and demanded the letter but Dr Han gave me such a good prep talk about expectations, what is to come, what I should do, statistics on sucessful birth rates and many more.... There I was when I left his room, gained a new found confidence in my future motherhood!! I never had that fear or negative thoughts again. .

I was a HAPPY MUMMY to be... and it shows.. Honestly!

40 days later

18 Jul 2008

Just 40 days later and look how much has the lil' bub grown!!

The Discovery

BB [V] should be made around April/May 08 , exactly when ? hmmmm we are clueless...

I suspected that I was pregnant in Jun somewhere flying over somewhere in the sky. We were lucky as there weren't any pax in first class that day, so I had my choice of seabass as there was only 1 catered. As I sat myself comfortably and was about to take a bite of my succulent piece of meat, something weird happened.I didnt want to eat it!!! I tried to take a bite but spat it out instead... well till today 7 mths down, I haven't been able to stomach fish... (it is suppose to be brain food for the small one but ..haiz) Think up to date I only managed to eat 3 fish 'o' fillet.

11 JUN 2008
We did a pregnancy test and it was positive. So I made a appointment with my gynae Dr Han, he didn't even ask me to do any urine test or whatever test and got me to lie down on the bed to do a V scan. Dr Han said pregnancy test kits don't lie and "ta da" I was really pregnant." That black dot is the sac of the bb, 8.6mm in length and the expected date of delivery is 28 Jan 08", he said. I was already 7 week preggies .. faintz*
