7 habits

on my way after attending a course... 7 habits of highly effective people by Steven Covey... was in office from 930am -930pm... long hor?

I never expect in my lifetime that I would get to attend this course, am sure all of you have heard of him, especially those who studied management. You can buy his book if you are keen, it was written after observing and interviewing 500 successful people. In conclusion, he realized that these successful people have common traits and so came about his book on 7 habits of highly effective people. Steven Covey started to give talks around the world and charged the corporate accounts which means CEO, high management staffs 1-2 k per pax. So now you know what I mean by never did I expect to attend this course.

Of course, I didn't sit in his class but mine was conducted by our National Sales Director... Man I tell you its cheem.. then I actually realized I'm not of CEO calibre wahahha.. actually the only way to understand this is to attend it 7 or more times. I have people in that class who have attended 12 times!!! She travelled all around the world to attend this talk whenever its in that city. There will be another one next year.. so I wait.. hoped that by then I would have attained a certain level.

I sat there with alot of thoughts, may I stress that it was real difficult for me as it was conducted in mandarin and mine is half cup full. The words that were used were darn too cheem and killed many of my brain cells during the process. My very limited ability as I was writing my notes, from spoken mandarin to written english, as my cpu was real rusty. Come on since secondary school you know! Thank goodness I speak not too bad mandarin... language spoken 8, language written 5, language read 5

I remembered this one point which I would like to share, believe you will benefit from it too..
We were showed this video of this magnificent eagle flying.... eagles have a life span of up till 70 years... great isn't it? But at the age of 40, they will have to make a decision to live or die.. why, you may ask? Because at the age of 40, their beak will grow and curl in, the claws will too grow and curl in... at this point they will fly high up in the mountains and live in seclusion.... up in the mountains alone and with no food... since they have beaks that can't feed and claws that can't catch, its really up to the eagle's determination to survive.

During this 150 days alone, the eagle must knock its beak off slowly, day by day by day; so that a new one can grow, when it grows out it must use his beak to pull out its claws one by one, and pluck his feathers...  like omfg right!???? *faints.. I was curling in my seat... and when finally the eagle has the ability to do so, he will get this chance to live for another 30 years!!! I have damn great respect for the eagle now.

Do you have any feathers you will want to remove? so that you can survive your many years?  Think about it...

For me I was given this challenge, for I need to approach strangers on the road and chat with them, give out my name card, a sample and get them to try our product. contact them 2 days later and get them to review it. The challenge is to get rid of my 1 feather.. the zero ability to cold call.  I have to do this for 21 days straight... for after 21 days a habit of formed. Will update all of you once its complete...
